Becoming Giulia

Directed by Laura Kaehr

Just four months after giving birth, Giulia Tonelli, prima ballerina of the Zurich Opera, is coming back to the stage. An uneasy task not only for her body, but because of the conservative environment she’s in.

In a field where it is necessary to live, and to breathe only for art, Giulia is now torn between her role as a mother and her choice of career and the sacrifices it requires.

Shot over three years, Becoming Giulia follows her at this pivotal moment of her life between representations, rehearsals and family life fighting to reconcile her professional and personal goals.
